Punch Pal Penguins

Happy Holidays everyone! This time of year sure gets busy at a retail store, I tell yah! I've already gotten plenty of extra hours where I work. Even went a little bit over the limit (they have a limit for part time employees), but only because a teenage girl made one too many mistakes and lost her job. I know it's sad that she lost her job....I sure hope she learned something from this because if I'd been her boss I'd have sacked her a while ago! I don't get how some people think they don't have to follow orders and rules like everyone else, think they don't have to a thing and still get paid! Well, enough of that....and to my card:

I actually made this card I think last July. The card base is Bashful Blue. I stamped the images on watercolorpaper and used my Watercolor Wonder Crayons to color them. Crystal Effects is something I just can't seem to live without. I added CE to the penguins and the sentiment. The striped background I made by using a white WWC on Whisper White cardstock and then used my brayer to cover it with Going Gray. And sponged a little bit of Bashful Blue around the edges. The "brads" are actually just punched out paper, I just added CE to make the dots look more like brads.

We still haven't been able to fix our USB but I've just put pictures on a CD at CVS and hopefully I'll have time to post soon again.
Hope you've all had a wonderful weekend and Thanksgiving!

A couple of Christmas cards

I've got a couple of Christmas cards to show you. I made them before I went to Iceland and I think I might just do more.
I don't know if you see it, but I was trying to make an ornament and make it look like it was hanging on a Christmas tree. I used Coluzzle to cut the red circle, a scallop circle punch to punch the mellow moss circle and a designer label punch for the little brown piece. The colors in this card are Mellow Moss, Riding Hood Red and Whisper White. The stampset is Baroque Motifs.
Here we've got the snowmen from Holiday Lineup and snowflakes from The Snowflake Spot. The colores I used are Pink Pirouette, Old Olive and Elegant Eggplant. Not the traditional Christmas colors but I think they look good together. I used my blenderpens and inkpads to color in the image.
I just sent off a whole bunch of Christmas cards to my mom yesterday, 30 cards I think. So I've been busy since I got back from Iceland. My DS was sick on the way home but fortunately he slept on the flight from Iceland to Boston. I am so glad I didn't miss the fall colors here in the mountains. We drove around yesterday and looked for good places to take fall pictures. We ended up in Chimney Rock.

Hope you're having a good day!

Punch Pals and Monday Mailer

Finally I get a chance to blog. I've been in Iceland for a week and already seen a little bit of snow and we had an earthquake here in my town less than an hour ago, 2.8 on Richter scale. Just a small one and short.
Today's cards are from the Punch Pals stamp set. I've only got two to show you and then a couple of Monday Mailers from Jen.

The card base here is Bravo Burgundy, then we have Naturals White and Always Artichoke designer paper (retired). I stamped the penguins with Stazon and colored them in with my Watercolor Wonder Crayons and a blender pen. I do not color straight on the image with the crayons, I dab my blender pen on the bottom of the crayon to pick up the color and then color the image.

I used the same technique to color the snowman in. Except I used a marker for the holly. I popped up the image and used the spiral punch on the side. The card base is Night of Navy, then Bashful Blue and Naturals White. Stazon and Night of Navy ink. Pretty simple.

Here are the Monday Mailers from Jen. She used the Upsy Daisy stamp set on the first card and Pocket Silhouettes on the second card (third and fourth card for September). She used my favorite Designer Paper on both cards,Urban Garden, and the colors are Baja Breeze, Not Quite Navy, Kiwi Kiss and Whisper White. She used the scallop border punch on the second card.
Very pretty cards, I think I'm going to have to get the Upsy Daisy stamp set now!

I'll try to post again soon, I've got a busy week ahead but hopefully I'll get a few minutes to use the computer.

Embrace Life 2

I know the weekend has come and gone and no post from me. I haven't been home. Our friends were house-sitting and invited us over so we stayed with them Saturday and Sunday. And I was working today. Now, if we had 2 computers I'd have been able to post last night (Sunday night) but DH got to the computer first :(
Anyway, enough of that, I've seen so many pretty cards with the Embrace Life stamp set that I wanted to use it again. I thought I'd be able to make a few pretty cards to show you....but my mojo took a few days off and I can't find it.

I do like this card though. I used Ruby Red, Basic Black and Whisper White card stock. The images are stamped with Stazon Jet Black ink. I stamped the flowers on WW card stock and used my sponge daubers to add pink pirouette ink and ruby red. I then cut out the flowers and glued them to a piece of ww card stock. Layered it with Basic Black and added a scallop border which I made with my Slit punch. I used my white signo pen to do the dots and used it on the leaves and flowers too. I wrote "congratulations" with the Signo pen on Basic Black and punched it with my word punch.

This card is pretty simple. The flowers are stamped on Whisper white and I used my blender pen to color them in. I used Pacific Point ink for the flowers. I then covered them with Crystal Effects. The scallop border is done with my Slit punch again, layered on Baja Breeze card stock. I used my brayer on the bottom of the card base and a little bit of white Signo for faux stitching. The card base is Naturals White card stock.

Here's Naturals White again as a card base. I masked off areas of the card and used my sponge daubers to fill in the So Saffron and Pacific Point. this card looks kind of Swedish to me, the Swedish flag colors (blue and yellow). If you don't have the card stock that matches your ink pads you can use your ink and sponges/sponge daubers/brayer to make your own colored card stock. I used my scallop circle punch and my coluzzle tool for the image and covered the image with Crystal Effects.
Now to the Monday Mailers.

This is MM#1 from Jen. She used Family Phrases, Window Dressing (Hostess set), Enjoy Every Moment and All in the Family (all stamp sets) to make this card. I really like the way she folded the card and the image fits perfectly in the circle window (I didn't do a good job photographing it). Here you can see how it's folded:

She used three punches on the card, the slit punch, scallp circle punch and a circle punch. The card stock: Baja Breeze and Pink Pirouette. Ink: Pink Pirouette, Baja Breeze and Basic Black for the image.

This is MM#2 from Jen. Here she used Kiwi Kiss and Pacific Point card stock and ink pads. The card base is Whisper White. The stamp set is Upsy Daisy. I think these colors are great together and white really makes them pop up. Thank you so much Jen!!!

Next weekend is the last weekend before I go on my trip to Iceland (my DS and I will be spending a month there with family and friends) but I'll try to post while I'm there. Next weekend I'll be using Eastern Blooms and while I'm in Iceland I'll show you a few Christmas cards I've been working on.

I don't know if you noticed that you can order Stampin'Up products online now!!! You can do it through my website, I'm still working on it but the link is http://huldap.stampinup.net/ (US customers only for online ordering please).

Have a great week and TFL!

It's a Stretch

I am so sorry it took my so long to post. We had AT&T guys working in our street on Friday and they left us with a dead phone line. Apparently they forgot to switch our phone back on. And I've only got dial-up :0 You can imagine what I was thinking all weekend about those poor guys. DH called the customer service and was told (by an answering machine) that we'd get someone over next Thursday!!! But fortunately someone came over yesterday and turned our phone back on...and my DH glued himself to the computer the rest of the day.

Back to my post. I'm not too crazy about the cards I'm showing you now. I've been trying to work on the cards and get ready for workshops and my 3 year old wont leave me alone for one second. He needs to stamp too, you know! Which means I get to clean the 100+ stamps he wants to use (or 10+).

This one I think is my favorite. The base is Baja Breeze, then Pacific Point, Apricot appeal, Always Artichoke and watercolor paper. The image was stamped with Stazon and colored in using blender pens and ink.

Cameo Coral, Chocolate chip and Whisper White. I used Baroque Motifs too. I used markers on this image.

I really like the stocking but I should have picked different colors. Always Artichoke, Riding Hood Red, Baja Breeze and Elegant Eggplant. I used Crystal Effects on the stockings and Scallop border punch on the red layer. Colored in using blender pens and ink.

I have come to realize I don't like Tangerine Tango at all, but I still want to use it *lol*. I think this stamp is cute but I don't have a sentiment to go with it so I found one in the Nursery Necessities stamp set. I colored the image with blender pens and ink. And added a little bit of faux stitching ;) This card fits in SU's medium square envelope.

Next weekend I'll be using Pocket Silhouettes!

Serene Spring

The stamp set I'm showing you today, Serene Spring, is one of the hostess sets in the new Ideabook & Catalog.
This is the first card I made with the set. I stamped the image on Very Vanilla. I'm not very good at coloring on VV card stock. I used my inks and my blender pens to do it. But what I think turned out just the way I want it is background. I wanted the background to look like a wall behind the image. So I used a technique called the Grid Technique to make a faux tile background. I used my bone folder and my Fiskars cutter to emboss lines on a sheet of Very Vanilla. I then used my brayer to cover the card stock in close to Cocoa and if I remember right, Baja Breeze. I don't have the card here to look at, I sent it as a Monday Mailer to Wanda.
I really wasn't sure what to do with this one. I wanted the focus to be on the image but I didn't want it to be just the image on a white background....but now I think I should have done just that, I should have kept the background just plain white and not added those layers or brayered the card base. Oh, well, I'll keep that in mind next time. I stamped the image on watercolor paper and colored it in with my inks and my blender pens.
Here's another easy faux tile. The image is stamped on watercolor paper and colored with inks and blender pens. I used the new scallop border punch for the scalloped edge.
Here is another image stamped on Very Vanilla and colored with blender pens.
I'm keeping this post short because I'm not feeling all that good, got some kind of stomach virus I think. But I want to show you a birthday card I received last week from my NCSUdemos group and the Monday Mailer I got from Dacia last week.

I don't know much about this card except for the stamp. *lol* I like the pattern paper, I'm pretty sure it's a retired one. the stamp is from our last SAB and it was stamped and heat embossed, then punched out with our scallop circle punch. Pretty card don't you think?
Here is the Monday Mailer I got from Dacia. Looks like she may have used the Heartfelt thanks stamp set. She was going for the faux silk and it turned out great! I think she picked a wonderful color combination too. Very pretty!
Next weekend I'm going to show you a new stamp set called It's a Stretch.
Until then....TFL

Sock Monkey

I got my preview order from the new catty this week. I got a couple of stamp sets and all the new in-colors. And of course I had to give the new stuff a try.
I decided to start with the Sock Monkey stamp set. I love sock monkeys. My DH has one from when he was little and my DS got one for Christmas last year.

This is the first card I made with this set. I stamped the monkey on Whisper White and Kraft card stock and the paper pieced the poor thing. I had to check on DS's monkey to see if I was getting the parts right. I sponged the background with Baja Breeze. The card stock colors are Baja Breeze, Riding Hood Red and Pink Pirouette and Kraft of course. I used a new scallop border punch to punch the red scallops.

I had a person in mind when I made this card. We've got a few birthdays coming up next month. I decided to see how the in-colors match with colors from other families. I picked Taken with Teal because that's the birthday girl's favorite color. The other colors are Basic Black, Riding Hood Red, Tangerine Tango and Sahara Sand. I like how it turned out! I also used a scrap piece from the Bali Breeze Designer Paper.

This is also a birthday card for August. I wanted to try to make a rectangle with the scallop border punch. It was my first try so of course I made a small mistake but managed to hide it. The monkey is stamped on watercolor paper and then colored in with close to cocoa and Riding Hood red. the card base is Naturals White. And again I used the new in-colors. The sentiment stamp is from a retired set named Party Punch. I sponged it with Kiwi Kiss and Riding Hood Red.

Here's the last one I made. I thought I'd get a chance to make one more today, but that didn't happen. The colors are Pink Pirouette, Regal Rose and Whisper White. Pretty Simple. The sentiment is from Short and Sweet. I used Crystal Effects on the monkey and the heart.

Next weekend I'm going to show you Prehistoric Pals. It's in the current catalog, just new to me. I swapped a hostess set for it ;)

Fruit stand

The Fruit Stand is a small stampset, only 3 stamps. I really like all three images. I haven't done many cards with this set though. So it's about time to get some cards done!!!

I stamped the image on Whisper White using my Jet Black Stazon. I then used my blenderpens and inkpads to color in the image. The grapes are Perfect Plum and the leaves are Mellow Moss and Old Olive. The designer paper is from Bali Breeze, I stamped on it with the Print Pattern background stap (retiring). The cardbase is Old Olive and I also used Perfect Plum cardstock. I added Crystal Effects to the grapes.

This image is also stamped on Whisper White with my Jet Black Stazon. And again I used my blenderpens and inkpads for coloring. The colors are Real Red, Mellow Moss and Bashful Blue. I covered a part of the Mellow Moss card stock with torn copy paper before I used my Print Pattern stamp for the background. the image is on dimensionals.

This one I'm not too happy with. I seriously need more background stamps or something. Maybe a couple of brads would have done the trick. The image was done the same way as the two cards above. I used Mellow moss, Old Olive, Chocolate Chip, Apricot Appeal and Groovy Guava. The ribbon is Mellow Moss. DP is Old olive.

These were fun to make. I stamped the images on Lavender Lace cardstock with my Versamark. I then used my black embossing powder and embossed the images using my heating tool. And then I used an old blenderpen and bleach to change the colors of the images. It was very interesting and it took me a while to pick out which color I should try this on. I like it. So the colors are, Whisper White, Lavender Lace and Basic Black. These would be easy to make in sets if you want to make a box with notecards or "thank you" cards.

I have not yet decided what I want to show you next weekend, I'm running out of stampsets to show you. I might have to start all over again with the stamp sets I've already used until I get my preorder from the new catty.
Have a nice week and check back in next weekend :)

Infinite Goodness

This is on my list of top ten favorite sets that I have. The pear is my favorite but I like all the stamps.
I really like how the pear turned out here. I used groovy Guava, Ruby red and Really Rust ink and a blender pen for the coloring. The colors are not my favorite colors but I like it anyway.

Stamps: Infinite goodness
Paper: Groovy Guava, Ruby Red, Chocolate Chip, Really Rust
Ink: Groovy Guava, Ruby Red, Chocolate Chip, Really Rust
Accessories: Jumbo Eyelets, Round Tab Punch, Blender pens
Techniques: watercoloring
Difficulty (1-Easy 5-Advanced): 1
This is a small card, 3x5 in. I made a pocket inside for a gift card (or cash). I used my blender pen here too, for the coloring.

Stamps: Infinite goodness
Paper: Night of Navy, Always Artichoke, River Rock
Ink: Stazon, Night of Navy, Always Artichoke
Accessories: Night of Navy ribbon
Techniques: watercoloring
Difficulty (1-Easy 5-Advanced): 1
This is a pretty simple card. If you find it hard to color in images you can always stamp them on a piece of colored cardstock and cut out. That's what I did here. I feel like there's something missing though, either a piece of ribbon or a sentiment.

Stamps: Infinite goodness
Paper: Chocolate Chip, Certainly Celery, Tempting turquoise
Ink: Chocolate Chip
Accessories: Double Circle punch
Difficulty (1-Easy 5-Advanced): 1
This one here is a colorful one. I thought the flower woould look great as a backgroundstamp and I wanted the focus to be on the dragonfly. When I made the background I started with the lightest color (So Saffron) and ended with the darkest (Purely Pomegranate).

Stamps: Infinite goodness
Paper: Kraft, Basic Black, Purely Pomegranate, Cameo coral, whisper white
Ink: Basic Black, Purely Pomegranate, Cameo Coral, Bashful Blue, So Saffron
Accessories: 3D tape
Difficulty (1-Easy 5-Advanced): 1
Here's that flower again ans the same colors as in the first card. Except for Really Rust.

Stamps: Infinite goodness
Paper: Basic Black, Groovy Guava, Really Rust
Ink: Stazon, Groovy Guava, Really Rust
Accessories: Basic Black Ribbon
Difficulty (1-Easy 5-Advanced): 1
This stampset is a part of the hostess products, so you can't buy it......but if you spend $300 you can get it. Host a workshop and get your friends to order stuff with you so you can get this set, before it's too late. We'll be getting a new catty later this summer!
Next weekend I'll be using Lovely as a tree

Pun Fun

You know, this stampset did not catch my eye until I started noticing a lot of cute cards on Splitcoaststampers, with these images. The skunk made me fall for it!

This first card is a design I have been playing with for a couple of years now and I think the design is fun to play with. You can use any shape you like, circles, squares, rectangles, hearts etc. I choose to use eyelets on these but you can also use brads, ribbons make it harder to open the cards. I stamped the image on Bashful Blue cardstock and cut the whale out. I then stamped the image on Whisper white and colored it in with my pastels. My Signo pen came in handy on this one too. I used my oval shaped Coluzzle template to cut the ovals.

Stamps: Pun Fun
Paper: Apricot Appeal, Bashful Blue, Taken with Teal
Ink: Stazon
Accessories: Pastels chalk, Brads, Jumbo eyelets, Signo pen, Coluzzle Oval
Difficulty (1-Easy 5-Advanced): 1

Here I had stamped the hippo wice on Apricot Appeal DP (from Level 1 hostess gift, Print Pack). The bashful blue and wild wasabi are also from the print pack. I used a real red marker for coloring the bow-tie. Size 5.25"x5.25"

Stamps: Pun Fun
Paper: Apricot Appeal, Real Red, DP from Hostess Level 1 Print Pack
Ink: Stazon
Accessories: Brads, dimensionals, Real Red ribbon, Word Punch
Techniques: Paper piecing
Difficulty (1-Easy 5-Advanced): 1

Now this one couldn't be girlier I think! I made it for a sketch challenge on SCS. I colored the image with my Watercolor Wonder Crayons. I then covered the image with my Versamark, poured Heat and stick on it ad heat set it. When the Heat and Stick powder looked like it was working I sprinkled Dazzling Diamonds on it and heatset it again. Gotta love the sparkles!!! The designer paper is from the Level 1 hostess Prints Pack.

Stamps: Pun Fun, Short and Sweet
Paper: Pretty in Pink CS and DP, Pixie Pink, Lovely Lilac
Ink: Stazon
Accessories: Heat and stick, Dazzling Diamonds, Signo Pen, Watercolor Wonder Crayons
Techniques: Heat embossing
Difficulty (1-Easy 5-Advanced): 2

I'm not too syre about this one. I like the color combo but I think I over did the faux stitching. I used Dazzling Diamonds on this card too. I used scraps from when I was making the Heartfelt Thanks cards a few weeks ago. You cab see it under the main image and under the sentiment. The sentiment is from the retired set Party Punch. I've had it for months but didn't have the punches until now, so now I can finally start using it ;)

Stamps: Pun Fun, Heartfelt Thanks, Party Punch
Paper: Barely Banana, Mellow Moss, Pale Plum
Ink: Stazon
Accessories: Watercolor Wonder Crayons, Heat and Stick, Dazzling Diamonds
Techniques: Heat embossing
Difficulty (1-Easy 5-Advanced): 2

Here's that skunk again. It colored with Watercolor Wonder Crayons. I love using those with my blender pens. I think I like this card better than the one above. It's not too girlie and it's easy to make. You don't even have to use the Coluzzle gutting system, the image would fit on the card pretty good as a square or a rectangle.

Stamps: Pun Fun
Paper: Night of Navy, Purely Pomegranate, So Saffron, Rose Red DP
Ink: Stazon,
Accessories: Night of Navy ribbon, Crystal Effects, Watercolor Wonder Crayons
Techniques: Watercoloring
Difficulty (1-Easy 5-Advanced): 1

Here I wanted to make a birthday card for a boy. The cupcakes are from Short and Sweet. I used my Word Punch for the sentiment. When I mounted the stamps I cut the sentiment off and placed it on the side/bottom of the wood block so I could stamp the images seperately from the sentiments without problems.

Stamps: Pun Fun, Short and Sweet
Paper: So Saffron, Handsome Hunter, Brocade Blue
Ink: Stazon, Brocade Blue
Accessories: Watercolor Wonder Crayons, Crystal effects
Techniques: Watercoloring
Difficulty (1-Easy 5-Advanced): 1

I have no clue why I made this card like this. I colored the kitties with a marker. I wanted to use my scallop punch and this is the result. Kitty Cat flowers. Maybe my allergy pills are messing my head up *LOL*

Stamps: Pun Fun
Paper: Ruby Red, Old Olive, Chocolate Chip
Ink: Stazon
Accessories: SU markers, Always Artichoke Ribbon, Scallop Circle Punch, Signo Pen
Difficulty (1-Easy 5-Advanced): 1

I like this design although the color combo is not my favorite. I colored the image with my blender pens and ink spots. I think the card is missing something, maybe the sentiment, I'm not sure, but I'll leave it as is for now.

Stamps: Pun Fun
Paper: Pretty in Pink, Perfect Plum, Certainly Celery
Ink: Stazon, Pretty in Pink, Perfect Plum, Certainly Celery
Accessories: Certainly Celery Ribbon, brads, Round Tab Punch
Techniques: watercoloring
Difficulty (1-Easy 5-Advanced): 1

I wanted to try out a tutorial they used on SCS on a Try a New Technique challenge the other week. It's pretty easy to make, but I'll have to figure out a way to make bigger cards with this technique. I just got the backgroundstamp in the mail this week and I love it. I use So Saffron ink on the So Saffron cardstock and I think it looks pretty good.

Stamps: Pun Fun, Print Pattern
Paper: So Saffron, Handsome Hunter, Night of Navy, Kraft,
Ink: Stazon, So Saffron
Accessories: Watercolor Wonder Markers, Signo Pen, Word Punch
Techniques: watercoloring
Difficulty (1-Easy 5-Advanced): 1

The deal of the week:

Buy the Pun Fun stamp set and get the blender pens for $6 (reg. price $9.95 bef. ship. and tax).

Send me an email if you want to get this deal! US residents only.

Next weekend I'll be showing you wedding cards. I'm not going to stick to just one set but I'll try to make elegant wedding cards using my wheels and background stamps and stampsets that I think are perfect for wedding cards.

For Father

Some of you may wonder why I chose to use For Father so close to Mother's Day. Well, I have been using a lot of feminin stamps since I started this blog and I just needed to challenge myself a little bit. I find it hard making masculine cards. But I knew the second I saw this set that I wanted it. The apple stamp is perfect for duys here in my neck of the woods. There are quite a few apple farmers here in the mountains (Smokies). Too bad I'm allergic to apples :(

This card is pretty simple. I stamped the image with Stazon ink on watercolor paper. I then used my blenderpens and classic ink to watercolor the image. The designer paper is Western Sky, it's my absolute favorite and works for both genders. The red layer, where I used my spiral punch, is on foam adhesive (stampin' dimensionals).

Stamps: For Father
Paper: Chocolate Chip, Ruby Red, Not Quite Navy, Western Sky DP
Ink: Close to Cocoa, Mellow Moss, Real Red, Soft Sky, Not Quite Navy, Sahara Sand
Accessories: Spiral punch, brads
Techniques: watercoloring w. ink
Difficulty (1-Easy 5-Advanced): 1

I used the same coloring technique on this card as the one above. I just wish I had put eyelets or jumbo eyelets between the image and the sentiment.

Stamps: For Father
Paper: Chocolate Chip, Not Quite Navy, Mellow Moss, Western Sky DP
Ink: Chocolate Chip, Not Quite Navy, Mellow Moss, River Rock, Soft Sky
Difficulty (1-Easy 5-Advanced): 1

I've had this image ready for a while. I colored it with my watercoloring pencils and blender pens. And sponged the edges with Chocolate Chip. I also put a little bit of Crystal Effects on the apples and the cap. The image is on dimensionals. Size 5.25"x5.25".

Stamps: For Father
Paper: Night of Navy, Sahara Sand, Chocolate Chip, Certainly Celery, watercolor paper
Ink: Stazon, Chocolate Chip
Accessories: Watercoloring pencils, Crystal Effects, brads, Coluzzle, Sponge, blender pens
Difficulty (1-Easy 5-Advanced): 1

The image here is watercolored with my ink and blender pens. I have to say, I think this one is my favorite. It's simple but I like the color combo. A little bit of faux stitching and a torn edge.

Stamps: For Father
Paper: Mellow Moss, Soft Sky, Chocolate Chip, Sahara Sand, Watercolor paper
Ink: soft sky, river rock, close to cocoa, Chocolate Chip, Mellow Moss, Sahara Sand
Accessories: brads
Techniques: watercoloring w. ink
Difficulty (1-Easy 5-Advanced): 1

I think this little doggie is so cute....and sad at the same time. I wanted to try a different fold here. Scroll down a little bit to see how it's folded. I used River Rock and Close to Cocoa on both of my little doggies. River Rock has a little bit too much green in it to use by itself and I didn't want to use only one color.

Stamps: For Father
Paper: Kraft, Chocolate Chip, Not quite navy, Western Sky DP
Ink: River Rock, Close to Cocoa, Chocolate Chip, Soft sky
Techniques: watercoloring w. ink
Difficulty (1-Easy 5-Advanced): 1

I hope you like what I've done with this stampset. It sure was a challenge for me.
