Wild about you

This stampset is one of the first stampsets from SU that I bought. And I don't think I'll ever get rid of it.

The card to the left is 4.25x5.5 in. but it doesn't open like a regular card, only the panel with the image and ribbon can be opened, I'm not sure if you can see it on the picture. The other card is a regular card.

Stamps: Wild about you
Paper: real Red, Wild Wasabi, East Cost Prep designer paper
Ink: Real Red
Accessories: Real Red Ribbon
Difficulty (1-Easy 5-Advanced): 1

The colors in this card are so not my colors, but I wanted to challenge myself a little bit. I stamped the flowers on the Really Rust paper using the flower stamp from the Wild About You stampset. I used a Really Rust marker and a Chocolate Chip marker, leaving the stems uncolored. The faux stitching is made with a Chocolate Chip marker. I put Crystal effects on the alligator/crocodile and the bird.
Stamps: Wild about you
Paper: Wild Wasabi, Chocolate Chip, Really Rust
Ink: wild wasabi, Chocolate Chip, Really Rust
Accessories: Crystal Effects
Difficulty (1-Easy 5-Advanced): 1

This card is pretty simple. But I think it would look nice with Dazzling Diamonds on it. I didn't have time to do it but I thought of putting DD on the images. To do that I would cover the images with Versamark ink, pour Heat & Stick on them, heat set if for a few seconds, then pour DD on the images and heat set for a few seconds to get the glitter to stay. Irridescent Ice would do the trick too.
Stamps: Wild about you
Paper: Chocolate Chip, Bashful Blue, Prints Pack
Ink: Chocolate Chip and Pumpkin Pie markers
Accessories: scalloped circle punch
Difficulty (1-Easy 5-Advanced): 1

I had made such a cute card with the lion stamp and I forgot to take a picture of it before sending ikt off to Iceland with my mom. So last night, in a hurry, I made this card. After I had finished it I started reading through blogs and noticed that one of the bloggers had used the same colors on a card and that's how I found out that these are the colors for this past weeks colorcombo challenge on SCS. I'm not to thrilled with this card though, I liked my other card better, but the colors in this one are nicer.

Stamps: Wild about you
Paper: Pretty in pink from Prints Pack, Certainly Celery, Chocolate Chip
Ink: Pretty in Pink, Chocolate chip marker, Certainly Celery
Accessories: Chocolate Chip ribbon, Certainly celery
Difficulty (1-Easy 5-Advanced): 1

Well, now, what about the giraffe? I do not have a card to show you that has only SU products. I didn't have time to make a new one this week. But here is a link to one that I made a couple of weeks ago for my mom.

Embrace Life

Embrace Life is one of the new stampsets in the Spring/Summer '08 catalog and it's the first one I bought from it. I'm hoping they'll keep it for a while because it is so pretty and fun to use too.
This time I made my cards pretty simple because I didn't have much time to make them. I hope you like them.

I stamped the images on a watercoloring paper and used my SU markers to color them in. I then used my Coluzzle template to cut out the circles. I used my word punch to cut out the sentiment.

Stamps: Embrace life
Paper: Mellow Moss, Cameo Coral, watercolor paper
Ink: Stazon, Cameo Coral marker, Sahara Sand Marker
Accessories: Coluzzle
Difficulty (1-Easy 5-Advanced): 1

I used my blender pen and Purely Pomegranate ink to color in the flowers. The images are on dimensionals.

Stamps: Embrace life
Paper: Always Artichoke, Kraft, Purely Pomegranate
Ink: Stazon, Purely Pomegranate
Accessories: Purely Pomegranate ribbon, white signo pen
Techniques: watercoloring
Difficulty (1-Easy 5-Advanced): 1

I wanted to try something different here. Normally I would not use this pink and gray together but I think it turned out ok. I used a blenderpen again here.

Stamps: Embrace life
Paper: Basic Gray, Pixie Pink, whisper white
Ink: Stazon, Pixie Pink
Accessories: Going Gray ribbon
Difficulty (1-Easy 5-Advanced): 1

For this card I used a sketch from Pagemaps. I stamped the big flower a couple of times on watercoloring paper and colored them in with my Cameo Coral marker. I used my white Signo pen too. I then cut out the images. I used the leaf stamp to stamp on whisper white before adhering the flowers. The top flower is on dimensionals.

Stamps: embrace life
Paper: Hunter Green, Cameo Coral, Kraft, Whisper White
Ink: Stazon, Hunter Green, Cameo Coral Marker
Accessories: brads from pretties kit, signo pen,
Difficulty (1-Easy 5-Advanced): 1

I wanted to try to make a bouquet using this stamp so I stamped it on watercoloring paper, then masked it and stamped again on each side of the first one. I colored the image in with my Cameo Coral marker. I stamped the leaves on wild wasabi using wild wasabi ink. I used my horizontal slot punch to punch a hole in the green and gray layers so I could get the ribbon the way it is. The slot is hidden under the image.

Stamps: embrace life
Paper: wild wasabi, cameo coral, basic gray, watercolor paper
Ink: Stazon, Cameo Coral
Accessories: going gray ribbon
Difficulty (1-Easy 5-Advanced): 1

The deal of the week:
Embrace Life ($23.95 before tax and ship.) + blender pens ($9.95 before tax and ship.) = $30

Arte Y Pico awards

Carrie put me on her list of people she wanted to give the Arte Y Pico awards to and I feel so honored.
I tried to edit this to my last post but it didn't go through, got an error message and lost everything I wrote *yikes* hope it will work this time.

Here are the rules for the award:
1. You pick five blogs that you consider deserve this award for their creativity, design, interesting material, and also contribute to the blogging community, no matter what language.
2. List the names of the people you chose to receive the award on your blog and link to their blogs. Then go comment on one of their posts to notify them that you have given them this award and link to the post on your blog.
3. Each award winner has to show the award and put the name of the person who gave them the award and link to their blog.
4. The Award-winner and the one who has given the award have to show the link to the Arte y Pico blog, so everyone will know the origin of this award.
Now the hard part - deciding who to give this award to…..
1. Sandra - her scrapbook pages are so creative and you should see her aurora borealis photos....amazing!
2. Begga - she makes amazing sketches for scrapbooking and her LO's are fantastic....check out her photographs too!
3. Amy - she makes wonderful cards and my favorite are her Scrap Stash Saturdays, when she pulls out scrap designer paper with here eyes closed and no matter what she manages to make beautiful cards from whatever paper she gets.
4. Magga - another scrapbooker. I don't think I've seen an ugly page from her yet....love her use of color!
5. Maria - she is so creative in her cardmaking and her tutorials are so easy to follow! Check out her other blog too.
I wish I could put more names on my list 'cause my list is as long as my arm.
Have a great weekend y'all!

Fabulous Flowers

Fabulous flowers is one of the sets I defenitely do not regret buying. While I was making these cards you are about to see, I felt like I wasn't getting anywhere and nothing was working out for me. I wanted to try out a different color combination, something I hadn't seen before and I came up with this combo: Mellow Moss, So Saffron and Regal Rose. I think these colors are perfect for spring.

This card is 5 1/4 x 5 1/4 in. I made the patterned paper using the smaller flowers in the set. I then stamped thwe main image 4 times and cut out 4 different pieces of it. I did not use any dimensionals on this card, I just bent the flower edges a little bit. The pearl is from Pretties kit.
--

This card here and the one below have the same color combo, Basic Gray, Going Gray and Soft Sky. I am so going to miss Soft Sky when we get new In-Colors. I think this color combo is so elegant. On the card here above I decided to focus on the small flowers instead of the big one. I used the big one for the patterned piece I made. The ribbon is Going Gray. The pearls are from Pretties Kit. I use Crystal Effects to glue the pearls to the flowers.
--

Here we've got the big flower again. I stamped the flower 3 times with Basic Gray and cut out three different pieces from the flowers. I then covered the pieces with Versamark, poured heat and stick on the images, heat set them only for a few seconds and then poured Dazzling Diamonds on them. I used the En Francais background stamp for the background.
--

This card has Basic Gray, Going Gray and Bashful Blue. The flower was done the same way as on the card above, except this time I used Basic Black ink. But after I had put the glitter on it it looked more like gray than black so I used Basic Gray for the cardbase instead of black. the size of the card is 5 1/4 x 5 1/4 in. The brad is from my Pretties kit.
--

This card is a Criss Cross Card. They are so much fun to make, and are pretty easy to make. The color combo is Basic Gray, Going Gray and Pretty in Pink.

The flower is stamped in Going Gray and then done the same way as the other glittery flowers.

You've probably noticed by now that Basic Gray is one of my favorite colors for a cardbase. But I promiss you that next weekend I'll be using different colors for my card bases.
I have not put item # anywhere in this post. I plan to do that as much as I can, I just don't have the time today. I'm getting ready for my parents to come visit with us all the way from Iceland.
We're driving to Atlanta, GA tomorrow to pick them up at the airport.

My deal of the week is:
Fabulous Flowers ($22.95)
Heat & Stick Powder ($4.50)
Dazzling Diamonds ($4.50)
for $27 before tax and shipping (regular total $31.95 before tax and shipping)

Bronc Buster

This weekend I'm showing you a few cards made with the Bronc Buster (#109529) set. I used the Western Sky Designer Paper (#110272) on all the cards, I love the colors in that series.

The first card is big, it fits in a standard business envelope. It's the first time I make a card this big and I'm satisfied with the results. I started out by cutting a circle out of a post-it note using my Coluzzle, I then placed the circle on a piece of Whisper White cardstock where I wanted the moon to be. I then sponged the whole piece using Soft Sky ink and Chocolate Chip. I then took the circle off and sponged the moon a little bit with Soft Sky. I inked up my cowboy on the horse stamp and stamped it on the paper. I had seen this done on another card an liked the look, so it's not my idea ;) I like the look of torn paper and decided to do that on trhe designer paper for a rougher look, I also sponged all edges. The eyelets are Antique Brass Jumbo Eyelets (#108431)
Stamps: Bronc Buster
Paper: Western Sky, Ruby Red, Whisper White
Ink: Soft Sky, Chocolate Chip
Accessories: Antique Brass Eyelets
Techniques: Masking, sponging
Difficulty (1-Easy 5-Advanced): 1

---

This one is pretty simple. I stamped the image on Soft Sky cardstock using Chocolate Chip ink and then colored in a little bit using a Sahara Sand marker. All paper edges are sponged using Chocolate Chip ink.

Stamps: Bronc Buster
Paper: Western Sky, Ruby Red, Soft Sky
Ink: Chocolate Chip, Sahara Sand marker
Techniques: sponging
Difficulty (1-Easy 5-Advanced): 1

---

This card is a little bit more complicated than the others. I stamped the image using Versamark on Sahara Sand Cardstock. Poured clear embossing powder on it and heat set it. I then sponged over the image using Not Quite Navy ink and Chocolate Chip. By embossing the image it stayed the same color as the cardstock and by sponging I colored around the image. I think this technique is so much fun. It's called Embossing Resist.
The Thank You is from Short & Sweet (#109369).

Stamps: Bronc Buster, Short and Sweet
Paper: Western Sky, Blue Bayou, Sahara Sand, Chocolate Chip
Ink: Chocolate Chip, Versamark, Not Quite Navy, Chocolate Chip marker
Accessories: Clear Embossing Powder, eyelets
Techniques: Embossing Resist
Difficulty (1-Easy 5-Advanced): 2
---

I had a bunch of treat bags in my stash and wanted to try to use it on a project. The base, Chocolate Chip cardstock, is in two pieces, the front piece is 4 1/4 x 8 inches. Scored at 2 1/4 to make the bottom. The back is 4 1/4 x 10 inches, scored at 2 1/4 (bottom) and 8. I clued the bottom pieces together using my sticky strip. The image is stamped the same way as the one on the first card. I also use sticky strip for it but I onle glued 2/3 of it down so I could slip the flip under it (to close it). I punched holes on the bag and the back of the card and used Chocolate Chip 5/8" grosgrain ribbon (#109051) to tie it to the card. My bag is full of Tootsie Rolls ;) but you can put anything that fits, in the bag.

Stamps: Bronc Buster
Paper: Western Sky, Chocolate Chip, Whisper White
Ink: Chocolate Chip, Soft Sky
Accessories: Chocolate Chip ribbon, treat sack
Techniques: Sponging
Difficulty (1-Easy 5-Advanced): 2

Bloomin' Beautiful

I fell for this stampset the minute I laid my eyes on it and was looking forward to trying it out.

Bloomin' Beautiful (#111490) is on page 2 & 3 in the Occasions Mini Catalog '08. It is die cut, which means you don't have to cut it out before mounting it on the wood.
--
The first card I'm showing you has a lot of layers but it can be made with fewer layers. I used my inkpads as watercolors and colored the image in using my blender pens. I then used my Coluzzle cutting system (#102264 spring/summer '08) to cut out the circles. I sponged the edges of my image (#101610 s/s) using my Chocolate Chip inkpad (#100908 s/s). I used my slit punch (#104388 s/s) to punch the slits on the mat under the image. I used a background stamp from Itty Bitty Backgrounds and one of the stamps from Bloomin' Beautiful for the backgrounds on this card.
This card fits in a Medium Square Envelope (#107289)

Stamps: Bloomin' Beautiful, Itty Bitty Backgrounds
Paper: Night of Navy, Chocolate Chip, Taken With Teal
Ink:
Night of Navy, Chocolate Chip, Taken With Teal, Garden Green
Accessories: Chocolate Chip ribbon, Slit Punch, brads, Coluzzle
Techniques:
Watercoloring, sponging
Difficulty (1-Easy 5-Advanced): 1

Here we're using the same image but this card is a top fold and I made a pocket to go inside it.
I used the same technique to color in the image here, my inkpads and blenderpens. But you can see how much difference it makes to chance the color combo.

Stamps: Bloomin' Beautiful, Itty Bitty Backgrounds
Paper: Chocolate Chip, Cameo Coral, Watercolor paper
Ink: Stazon, Garden green, Chocolate Chip, River Rock, Cameo Coral
Accessories: Chocolate Chip Ribbon, Coluzzle
Techniques: watercoloring, sponging
Difficulty (1-Easy 5-Advanced):

I've been wanting to make 3x3 in. cards for a while now and I had already got the envelopes waiting (#107309s/s). They are pretty simple to make. I think they would look great if I'd put Iridescent Ice on them (#101930), I'll have to try that next time.

Stamps: Bloomin' Beautiful
Paper: Kraft, Taken with Teal, Watercolor paper
Ink: Taken with Teal, Night of Navy, Garden Green, Old Olive, River Rock, Stazon
Accessories: Night of Navy ribbon
Techniques: watercoloring, sponging
Difficulty (1-Easy 5-Advanced): 1

I made this card for a SWAP I'm in. I had to mask the middle flower before stamping the other two. that means I stamped the image on a post-it note (stamp as much of the image as you can on the part with the glue underneath), cut the image out and placed over the main flower before stamping the extra flowers. I used the same watercoloring technique as before. I used my double circle punch (#104389 s/s) to punch holes for the ribbon. You can also use gluedots to stick the ribbon on the card.

Stamps: Bloomin' Beautiful, Itty Bitty Backgrounds
Paper: Basic Gray, Wild Wasabi, Watercoloring paper
Ink: Purely Pomegranate, Wild Wasabi, Stazon
Accessories: Purely Pomegranate Ribbon
Techniques: Masking
Difficulty (1-Easy 5-Advanced): 1
--
This last one is pretty simple, again I used my ink as watercolors, I then added Crystal Effects (#101055 s/s) to the flower. I use Crystal Effects a lot, I love it! Who ever came up with the Spiral punch (#108341 s/s) is a genious too!

Stamps: Bloomin' Beautiful, Itty Bitty Backgrounds
Paper: Mellow Moss, Pale Plum, Perfect Plum, watercoloring paper
Ink: Pale plum, Perfect plum, Mellow Moss, Stazon
Accessories: Mellow Moss ribbon, Spiral punch, Crystal Effects
Techniques: watercoloring
Difficulty (1-Easy 5-Advanced): 1
--
Now, even if I used my inkpadds to color in the images you can also try the watercoloring pencils (#101879), the Watercolor Wonder Crayons (#106695, #106696, #106697, $106698, #106746), the Stampin' Pastels (#105542), the markers (#105541) or the Pure Color Pencils (#100271).

Heartfelt Thanks

I got this weeks stampset in my SU starter kit when I became a demo. It's a Two Step Stampin set. Meaning you create your images using 2 stamps. It is not necessary when using this stamp set though.
Lets start with this card. I used Pretty in Pink, Chocolate Chip, Mellow Moss and Whisper White cardstock. I decided not to use a full front on it. The pink part only covers half of the card. It's a regular card size though, 4 1/4 x 5 1/2 in. I used my Soft Subtles stampin' spots to ink up the stamp. I started out stampin three flowers and on the other flowers I had stamped first on a pice of scrap paper before stampin on the image so they would be softer than the first three. I used a background stamp from Itty Bitty Backgrounds on the pink part, using Pretty in Pink ink. The sentiment is from Short & Sweet.
On this card I used Pale Plum, Mellow Moss, Barely Banana and Whisper White cardstock. I used a Mellow Moss stampin'spot to stamp a background (Itty Bitty Backgrounds) on the Mellow Moss layer. I used three different stamps to make the Pale Plum layer. The colors of the small flowers are Pale Plum, Perfect Plum and Barely Banana. the ribbon is Mellow Moss and the main image is stamped in Pale Plum, Mellow Mossand Barely Banana. The center of the flower is a different stamp from the flower so that makes it easy to use a different color for it.
This card is made with Bravo Burgundy, Rose Red, Regal Rose cardstock and Always Artichoke designer series paper. I actually colored the stamp with my Watercolor Wonder Crayons, using the same colors as the card itself has. Remember to keep the stamp wet when you use the crayons for stamping. I stamped "Heartfelt" in Always Artichoke on the front and "Thanks" inside the card in Rose Red.
Lets try the In-Colors next:
I used Soft Sky, Wild Wasabi and Purely Pomegranate for this project. I wanted to try out my 5-in-1 template and do something I haven't seen anyone else do yet. I made this box using the template. I wanted to make a box for notecards that I could use as a gift. So I mafe the cards to match the box. I decided not to put a bow on the card images so the cards wouldn't have to be hand cancelled at the postoffice. I think the bow looks nicer though. The cards fit in envelopes that you can send checks in (don't know what they are called), 6 3/8 x 3 1/4 in.
I recommend using Sticky Strip tape to glue the box if you want to make sure it won't fall apart ;)
And here I wanted to show you that you can make different cards using the same material. The only stampæ that is not the same in both cards is the background stamp. I used En Francais on the first card and Itty Bitty Backgrounds on the second one. I used Certainly Celery, Apricot Appeal, Barely Banana and Whisper White. I used a paper crimper on the Barely Banana pieces.
The sentiment is not a SU stamp, it's from a dollar set that I have, I don't have an Easter stampset from SU yet, it's my first Easter as a demo.
I prefer using markers, stampin'spots or the crayons when I use this set. I did use the big inkpads on the box and notecards because the in-colors are only available in pads, and it wasn't easy, it's fine when you only use one color though.
If you order this set from me this week you get two Stampin'markers for free (you choose the colors).
Next weekend I'll be using Bloomin' Beautiful from the Occasions Mini Catalog (2008)
Happy Easter!
